If you have downloaded CarPlay, and used it for your vehicle before, you may be wondering why it is not showing up, or not connecting as usual.
If the car or the phone does not seem to recognize CarPlay, then you may have to reconnect them.
To do this, you will need to know how the car connects to your app. This can either be done with a USB port, wireless CarPlay, or Bluetooth technology.
If your car supports CarPlay fully, then you can connect to wireless CarPlay just by holding the voice command button on the steering wheel to get set up.
You will just need to make sure that your car is in wireless or Bluetooth pairing mode for this method to work.
Once this is done, you have to go onto your iPhone device, and select Settings, then General, followed by CarPlay, and then Available Cars, so that you can choose and select your vehicle to connect them.
If you have a USB connection, then plug the iPhone device into the USB port of your vehicle or the vehicle stereo.
Alternatively, you can connect your CarPlay iPhone app to the car by searching for it on Bluetooth.
To connect using Bluetooth, you may need to restart your device. Then, go to your Settings, select Bluetooth, and turn it off.
Wait for a moment, before turning it back on again. Examine your car manual for in-depth instructions on how to connect your car to your iPhone, as you may have to pair them together.
For most devices, you can select Settings, then Bluetooth, and search for devices. You should be able to see your iPhone and connect them.

If you have already connected the car to the device, and you are now struggling too, then you may want to forget your device and unpair them, before pairing them again, and this should work for you.
Why is CarPlay not working?
There are many reasons why CarPlay is not working for you. These could be connectivity issues or compatibility issues.
For instance, CarPlay will not work on iPhones older than the iPhone 5 model, and with the running system older than iOS 7.1.
It is also important to note that CarPlay is only available on some models of cars and will need to be used with those vehicles that fully support CarPlay, or you will have issues when it comes to connecting and using the application.
If CarPlay is not working, then you will need to check the application.
We recommend that you ensure your iPhone is up to date with the latest version of iOS, and the newest version of the application.
Then, you are going to need to check the connection. If this is wired, via a USB cable, then make sure it works, the USB port is clear of debris, or try using a different cable.
In addition, you may need to check if data transfer is available with the cable that you are using, or you may see a notification asking you to send data via the cable, instead of just charging with it.
If you see this notification, then choose the option for transferring data between the phone and the car via the cable.
On the other hand, if you have a wireless CarPlay connection, then ensure that WiFi and Bluetooth are enabled in your Settings.
Then, look for the CarPlay logo on the car display to see if this is connected. If not, then restart both the car and the iPhone device.
Once restarted, ensure that Siri is enabled and turned on.
You will also need to check if CarPlay is restricted in any way.
To do this, you will need to go into your phone Settings, click on Screen Time, then try Content and Privacy Restrictions, and ensure that CarPlay is an allowed application.
Then, go to Settings, select General, and CarPlay and select Forget This Car. Then, you will need to set up CarPlay again, and it should work.
